Spontaneous and exciting, Pop-Up New York is a handful of the city’s young and emerging artists gathered to spring up next to Broadway Gallery’s London show Underground on BROADWAY.

Working in a range of mediums this group show is an array of visual reaction, with artists responding to their surrounding influences and situations. Reflective of New York, the show will run alongside Underground on BROADWAY providing an energy filled visual dialogue that will allow both shows to feed off one another.

Innovative in its approach, Underground on BROADWAY and Pop-Up New York will be an unique and interactive experience aiming to involve both the artists and viewers of each of its home towns. There will be filming, live web streams back to England, the opportunity to text artists not present at the opening, and an atmosphere lively with ideas and thoughts from two cities miles apart.

Not to be missed come to the OPENING PARTY on the 1st of July for a preview unlike any other.

Artists at Home and Abroad

The Artists at Home and Abroad exhibition is a representation of both emerging and established artists on an international scale. Exploring everything from the intersection of abstraction and figuration to the significance of high and low art, each participant creates an entirely different perspective within the cultural sphere of the art world.

From June 1-15th The Artists at Home and Abroad exhibition will be on display at Broadway Gallery, in conjunction with several Internet projects, and a print catalog. The exhibit will offer writers and viewers the chance to submit essays and comments on the nature and significance of biennials, fairs and public exposure for new and emerging artists. Featuring many artists working with both new and old mediums, The Artists at Home and Abroad exhibition offers a platform for artists, curators, gallerists as well as writers to voice their ideas on the contemporary art world.

Featuring Sabine Helgesson, Nina Gamsachurdia, Lilo Scheuer-Hagenmüller, Licel Chardon Quinones, Elisa Schaar, Carla Elena, Beatrix Pirchner, Aghzout Abdelkhalek, Global Arts Projects “Artists at Home and Abroad” is a group exhibition which spotlights a selection of artist from around the glob who each create new global perspectives with their art. The salon-style exhibition will features 20 plus artists from all over the world, in a unique and dynamic visual dialogue.

CHELSEA ART MUSEUM IN NEW YORK

In the run-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Chinese have been breaking records: from the longest Olympic torch relay ever (climbing to the top of Mount Everest), to an extravagant opening ceremony with the most ebullient firework display known to man, and even the longest piece of street art in China. With 1.5 million foreigners expected to attend, the Summer Olympics showcases China’s rich culture, art and architecture with a variety of international satellite events and exhibitions.

To celebrate, not only the events going on in Beijing this month—but also the nation’s innovative and rapid evolution within the global art world, NY Arts Magazine will present an exhibition of 1,000 Chinese artists at the Chelsea Art Museum this week, with an opening reception on Thursday, July 17th. This dynamic exhibition will be on display at the museum for the rest of the summer.
The exhibition features not only emerging artists of China but also the leading Chinese avant-garde artists—artists who are having a major influence on the development of contemporary art in China today.

In the past five years Chinese artists have emerged after years of containment by the strictures of the national ideology. The Western art world, hungry for new spectacle, has consumed the new art with an appetite, but the art is changing so fast the Western viewer has little means of assessing or understanding the background to these extraordinary developments. The city of Beijing alone has a wealth of creative offerings ranging from cutting-edge contemporary art to decadent imperial treasures. The creative center is the Bauhaus-style 798 Art District (part of the larger Da Shan Zi Art District), is a one-stop shop for art enthusiasts, including galleries, artist studios and project spaces. Not only limited to the 798, China has also developed major art centers in over a dozen cities, with whole communities of artists springing up overnight, and more artists graduating than the U.S. and Europe combined China is getting more international acclaim than any nationality has received before.

With an extensive knowledge of China’s art scene and a strong background in promoting and discovering artists from China, NY Arts has been playing a major role in presenting Chinese artists’ works both nationally and internationally for over ten years. NY Arts continues to introduce the most significant contemporary global arts movement in half a century, making contemporary Chinese art accessible to a global audience. By presenting this exhibition, NY Arts allows the New York art-going public to enjoy and become familiar with the fascinating contemporary Chinese art scene.

With a plethora of mediums included in the vast collection—from painting and sculpture, to installation and photography the exhibition is an interactive visual experience that can be continued long after the viewer leaves the museum. NY Arts Pavillion Consorzio Cantieristica Minore Veneziana, will open with a gala reception for press and media
on Friday, June 5, from 3 to 5 pm. The artists and public reception will be held Sunday June 7, 3 to 5 pm. With
eight international curators working with a dozen different countries, the exhibition will feature works by over
100 artists and includes new works and on-site commissions in all disciplines dynamically executed on paper.

The curators include Basak Malone and Tchera Niyego from New York, Agustina O’Farrell and Santiago Bunge from Buenos Aires, L.Brandon Krall from New York, Cosimo Di Leo Ricatto from Amsterdam, and Stefano Pasquini from Italy. Echoing the ideologies of the 53rd Biennale di Venezia, the NY Arts Pavillion emphasizes the process of creation and discovery. Marked by local and global relationships, aesthetics, and practices the NY Arts Pavilion comments on visual culture in a wider context, than the traditional art fair exhibition.

The location of the exhibition on the historic island of Giudecca will transform the island itself, into a visual art
and media nexus for a full 5 months. In conjunction with several Internet projects, the exhibit will offer writers
and viewers the chance to submit essays and comments on the nature and significance of biennials, fairs and
public exposure for new and emerging artists. Works On Paper, A Global Perspective, echoes the position of the
majority of artists featured, as they constantly work to respond and adapt to changing social and political
conditions of the contemporary world.

At the end of the year The NY ARTS Venice exhibition will travel to China and be shown at Arts Space Beijing
(www.nyartsbeijing.cn) for the duration of one month.

NY Arts Magazine and World Art Media are pleased to announce a continuation of the international traveling exhibition Global Perspectives which will be shown in three different continents; Europe, North America and Asia.

From January 2 to 30, 2010 the next exhibition Global Art Perspectives: Art 2010 Annual Preview will be on display at Broadway Gallery, in conjunction with several Internet projects, the exhibit will continue to offer writers and viewers the chance to submit essays and comments on the nature and significance of biennials, fairs and public exposure for new and emerging artists. Featuring over 200 artists with on-site commissions, new and older works, of all mediums, dynamically executed on paper. The curators include Basak Malone and Tchera Niyego from New York, Agustina O’Farrell and Santiago Bunge from Buenos Aires, L.Brandon Krall from New York, Cosimo Di Leo Ricatto from Amsterdam, and Stefano Pasquini from Italy.

Utilizing the ideologies of the international art fair, exhibition and symposium, this unique exhibition emphasizes the process of creation and discovery. Marked by local and global relationships, aesthetics, and practices Global Art Perspectives: Art 2010 Annual Preview comments on visual culture in a wider context, than the traditional art fair exhibition.

The first exhibition in this traveling show Works On Paper, A Global Perspective was previously on display at Pavillion Consorzio Cantieristica Minore Veneziana, concurrent with the 53rd Biennale di Venezia, and featured eight international curators working with a dozen different countries. Global Art Perspectives will also be shown at a different New York location in March concurrent with NYC Art Fair’s week including The Armory Show. Soon afterwards the exhibit travels to Beijing, China where it will be on display at Arts Space Beijing.
